May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed each May since 1949, led by Mental Health America.
In honor of the 70th year of observing Mental Health Awareness Month, Mental Health America is expanding on last year's theme of #4Mind4Body. Topics such as animal companionship (including pets and support animals), spirituality, humor, work-life balance, and recreation and social connections as ways to boost mental health and general wellness.
The theme encourages individuals to focus on certain healthy aspects to promote mental health. Some of those aspects are to get 8 hours of sleep each night, avoid toxic people and situations, engage in physical activity at least 30 minutes a day, eat a healthy diet, among other things.
Mental Health America has tool kits with a great deal of information to help raise awareness. Click here to learn more about the tool kits.
